How to Use the Classroom Switcher and Projector (Instructor Quick Guide)

This guide explains how instructors can power on the projector, select the correct switcher input, and adjust laptop display settings.
It also provides quick troubleshooting steps and reminders for shutting down equipment.

This guide walks instructors through powering on the projector, selecting the correct input on the classroom switcher, and adjusting display settings on Windows or Mac laptops.

Instructions

1. Power On the Projector

• Use the remote control located on the instructor station to turn on the projector.
  Remotes may vary by room. 
• Ensure the projector is set to the correct HDMI input
  • Input C or Input D is standard across campus. 

How to MUTE the projector on the "TEKSwamp" remote is the Pict/Freeze" button (Lower right corner). It will toggle on/off.

2. Lower the Screen

• Confirm the projection screen is lowered.
• If not, use the wall switch to lower it. 

3. Locate and Use the Classroom Switcher

The switcher is found on the top of the instructor station. 

Input Button Functions

Press the Input button to cycle through available sources:

• Input 1 – Instructor computer
• Input 2 – Laptop
• Input 3 – Other devices (Airtame, Blu-ray, etc.)
• Input 4 – Reserved for future devices

5. Display Settings on Your Device

Windows Laptops

Press Windows Key + P to open the projection menu. Choose one of the following:

• Duplicate – Same content on laptop and projector
• Extend – Adds the projector as a second display
• Second screen only – Shows content ONLY on the projector

Mac Laptops

• Press Command (⌘) + F1 to toggle display mirroring.
• If the shortcut doesn’t work, open:
  System Settings → Displays (or System Preferences → Displays on older macOS)
  • Adjust mirroring
  • Arrange multiple displays
  • Use the menu bar Display icon if enabled

6. Troubleshooting Tips

• If your image is not appearing on the projection screen, double-check the input using the projector remote. 
• Audio is controlled through your connected device, not the switcher.
