What are the AmeriCorps and ServeMinnesota programs?
Answer
AmeriCorps is a National Service program often referred to as the "domestic Peace Corps." Members commit to a term of service to help meet a variety of local community needs. Benefits include: education award that can be used for higher education or applied toward federal student loans; a stipend; and an opportunity for health insurance.
ServeMinnesota offers similar opportunities as AmeriCorps and has specific math and reading programs through the MN Math Corps and MN Reading Corps.
