Federal Pell Grant

Introduction

The Federal Pell Grant is a need-based program for undergraduate students. Unlike a loan, grants do not need to be repaid.

Question

Am I eligible for the federal Pell Grant?

Answer

Eligibility for the need-based federal Pell Grant is determined by your FAFSA results and Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU). Pell Grants are only available to undergraduate students seeking their first bachelor's degree.

The Pell Grant requires a 12 credit enrollment level per term to receive the full grant amount. The grant is reduced if you are enrolled fewer than 12 credits per term.
