Homeschooled and Financial Aid

Tags home

Introduction

Financial aid eligibility requires you to show that you are qualified to obtain a college or career school education. A home school credential is one way to meet this qualification.

Question

If I was homeschooled am I eligible to apply for financial aid?

Answer

Yes, provided you have one of the following:

  • a secondary school completion credential, or
  • a recognized equivalent of a high school diploma, or
  • a transcript or its equivalent signed by the parent or guardian listing the secondary school courses completed and documentation of successful completion.

On your FAFSA, you will answer ""Homeschooled" when asked what your high school completion status will be when you begin college.
