Winter weather in Minnesota can be unpredictable, and we strive to remove snow and treat icy areas as quickly and efficiently as possible. Because we have such a large campus, areas of focus will be prioritized. During a snow and/or ice event, snow removal is Facilities’ top priority, and routine work may be delayed.
- Low-use sidewalks for which there are other reasonable routes will not be maintained and will be closed for the season.
- Primary entries to buildings will be cleared of snow first.
- Secondary entrances will be cleared later as staffing permits.
- Additionally, many secondary entrances will/may be marked as emergency exits only, which means that pathways will only be minimally maintained.
- Exterior stairways will also be closed for the season where alternative routes are available. Please adjust travel patterns accordingly.
These priorities are subject to change based on the type of snowfall, staffing availability, and equipment availability.
