SCSU-Remote VPN Setup for Mac

Summary

How to set up SCSU VPN on a Mac

Body

Introduction

St. Cloud State offers faculty and staff members access to campus files and resources while off-campus through various methods. VPN access is one of the methods available to faculty and staff who have a specific need for a secure connection to their work environment.

Through this VPN service, you will be able to access internal St. Cloud State services.

(Due to security concerns, you will not be able to access websites that are outside the St. Cloud State domain.)

Steps to Connect

  1. Open Cisco Secure Client Application

    • Click the Start button.
    • Find the Cisco folder.
    • Click Cisco Secure Client.
  2. Enter VPN Server

    • In the AnyConnect VPN section, type:
      scsuremote.stcloudstate.edu

    • Click Connect.
  3. Select Group

    • When prompted, choose SSLanyconnect.
  4. Log In

    • Enter your Office 365 credentials (You will need to use your MFA token):
      starid@minnstate.edu

    • If successful, a Connected bubble will appear. You are now connected to the St. Cloud State network.

Disconnecting from the VPN

  • When finished, open Cisco Secure Client from the Start Menu or system tray (bottom-right corner).
  • Click Disconnect.

Tip: If you see a message suggesting you clear your browser cache, follow your browser’s settings to do so. This helps maintain account and file security.

Troubleshooting

  • Login Failed
You may have entered the wrong StarID or password. Double-check your credentials or call the HelpDesk at 320-308-7000.

  • Login Denied
You are not approved for VPN access. Complete the VPN Request Form and return it to the SCSU HuskyTech Helpdesk (Miller Center, Room 204). For questions, call 320-308-7000. HuskyTech will give the form to the Security Department, which is in charge of approving.
