What English Proficiency exams do you require for graduate student admission?

Answer

St. Cloud State School of Graduate Studies accepts multiple proficiency exams for admission consideration. See exemptions on the Graduate Admissions web page.

Acceptable English Proficiency scores for full admission consideration:

IELTS score 7.5+ (Direct Admission)

TOEFL score 100+ (Direct Admission)

Duolingo English Test score 120+ (Direct Admission)

 

All students admitted with the following score ranges and tests may be required to register for EAP 511 and EAP 512 in their first year, or may be required to complete placement testing upon arrival:

IELTS score > 6.5

TOEFL score > 79

Duolingo English Test score 105+

 

Scores falling below the minimum requirement may be eligible for a Conditional Language Admission to complete English coursework through the Intensive English Center.

IELTS score 5.5-6.5

TOEFL score 61-78

Duolingo English Test score 95-104
