How to sync OneDrive

Introduction

IT Services recommends that you do not sync files to your local device. Instead, work directly in the cloud using Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. This ensures:

  • Real-time collaboration
  • Automatic saving
  • Access to the latest version of your files

 

Instructions

How to Sync

  • Visit the Microsoft Knowledge Base for instructions on setting up OneDrive based on your device (Windows or Mac) by following this link.

Check if OneDrive is Installed

  • On your device, open your applications folder to check if the OneDrive app is installed
  • If it’s not installed, you can download it from:
    • Windows: Open the Software Center
    • Mac: Open Self-Service

Install and Set Up OneDrive

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. You will always use your Work or School account to log in:
    • Employee/Emeritus: Use your StarID in this format StarID@minnstate.edu and your StarID password.
    • Student: Use your StarID in this format StarID@go.minnstate.edu and your StarID password.

Access Your OneDrive Files

  • After syncing, your OneDrive files will be available in File Explorer on Windows or Finder on a Mac.
