Answer

1. Confirm OneDrive Installation
Ensure that the OneDrive app is installed on your device. If not, refer to the knowledge base article:  Windows-
Software Center.  Mac- Self Service

2. Access Your XDrive—If you do not have these mapped, you can access Xdrive by Logging in to your account at File/ Web Space at https://webfs.stcloudstate.edu/main/ using your starID and password.

  • Windows
    • Open File Explorer and locate your XDrive folder.
  • Mac:
    • Open Finder and locate your XDrive folder.
    • smb://campus.stcloudstate.edu/users/<first letter of starID>/<starID>

3. Select Files for Transfer
Select the files or folders you wish to move from XDrive. Right-click to Cut.

  • If you're working with a large number of files or data, it's a good idea to break things down into smaller, manageable chunks to avoid errors.
  • If you cut ALL files make sure you do not move your webspace folder!

4. Paste Files into OneDrive

  •  Windows
    • Open File Explorer, locate the OneDrive folder, open it, and Paste the copied files/folders into the OneDrive folder.
  • Mac:
    • Open Finder, locate the OneDrive folder, open it, and Paste the copied files/folders into the OneDrive folder.

5. Wait for File Transfer Completion
Allow time for OneDrive to access the files. You can monitor progress in the OneDrive app or by checking the sync icon next to your files.

It doesn't matter whether you're using Windows or Mac; both clients will display the following:

6. Confirm File Transfer on Office.com
Go to https://www.office.com, sign in, and open the OneDrive app to confirm that your files have been successfully transferred.

7. Once you have confirmed, please contact your primary technician to have your Xdrive disconnected.

After the files have been moved, if you wish to access the files from your file explorer you will need to "sync" your OneDrive to your file explorer, please see https://services.stcloudstate.edu/TDClient/1919/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=118683
