3. Select Files for Transfer
Select the files or folders you wish to move from XDrive. Right-click to Copy / Cut.
Note:
- Copy can be used when it is not required to retain metadata (like last modified date).
- Cut the files if retaining metadata (like last modified data) is important. Ensure data is pasted in the OneDrive location to avoid data loss.
- If you're working with a large number of files or data, it's a good idea to break things down into smaller, manageable chunks to avoid errors.
- If you cut ALL files, make sure you do not move your webspace folder!
4. Paste Files into OneDrive
- Windows:
- Open File Explorer, locate the OneDrive folder, open it, and paste the copied files/folders into the OneDrive folder.
- Mac:
- Open Finder, locate the OneDrive folder, open it, and paste the copied files/folders into the OneDrive folder.
5. Wait for File Transfer Completion
Do not shut down the device; keep your device powered on and plugged in while the transfer is happening. Allow time for OneDrive to access the files. You can monitor progress in the OneDrive app or by checking the sync icon next to your files.
It doesn't matter whether you're using Windows or Mac; both clients will display the following:

6. Confirm File Transfer on Office.com
Go to https://www.office.com, sign in, and open the OneDrive app to confirm that your files have been successfully transferred.
7. Once you have moved all your files, please contact your primary technician to have your Xdrive disconnected. This is an important step so that we can ensure that all files are being saved and accessed from OneDrive. This helps maintain data integrity and reduces the chances of confusion or errors.
After the files have been moved, if you wish to access the files from your file explorer, you will need to "sync" your OneDrive to your file explorer. Please see https://services.stcloudstate.edu/TDClient/1919/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=118683
