Transparency Printing Not Feasible on New Printers

Question

Can I print transparencies on the new Ricoh multifunction printers?

Answer

Transparency printing is not a supported media type on the new Ricoh multifunction printers. Instructors should not use these devices to print transparencies, as doing so may damage both the printer and the transparency material. Instead, instructors are encouraged to work with a technician to transition to using USB document cameras in classrooms.

USB document cameras provide the same real-time instructional capabilities as transparencies and overhead projectors while offering greater flexibility and improved image quality. Instructors can write and annotate live, reveal information gradually, and demonstrate problem-solving processes while maintaining an interactive teaching style. In addition, document cameras can display a wide variety of materials, including worksheets, textbooks, maps, photos, student work, and three-dimensional objects, making content easier for students throughout the classroom to see and follow.

If transparencies are necessary and cannot be substituted with modern equipment already available, such as a doc cam, please submit a support ticket so we can explore solutions.
