How to Set Up Respondus LockDown Browser

Introduction

 

Lockdown Browser is NOT Chromebook compatible.

Some options for Chromebook users:

  • SCSU computer lab.
  • Friend/family member compatible computer.
  • Remote proctor center.
  • Other special access as determined on a case-by-case basis

 

Instructions


1. Navigate to D2L Brightspace at: https://stcloudstate.learn.minnstate.edu

2. Log in with your StarID credentials.

3. Locate your course and click it.

4. Click the Assessments menu on the course homepage.

5. Click Quizzes from the menu.

Note: You will need to create your Quiz before setting up LockDown Browser.

6. Click the LockDown Browser tab.

7. You will see a LockDown Browser start page, click Continue to LockDown Browser.

Note: Sometimes it takes several minutes for this page to load. If it doesn't load after a few minutes, refresh the page.

8. Click the arrow next to the Quiz you wish to set-up LockDown Browser in.

9. Click Settings from the menu.

10. Select Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam.

11. Check or Uncheck Require LockDown Browser to view feedback and results according to your preference.

12. Click the Plus + sign next to Advanced Settings.

13. Check Allow students to take this exam with an iPad if you wish students to be able to use iPads.

14. Click Save + Close.

Instructors:

Have students take an ungraded practice quiz that requires the use of LockDown Browser, before the graded exam occurs.
Leave the quiz available for the duration of the course, with unlimited attempts, so students can access it again if they use a different computer.
