About Kahoot!

Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform, used as educational technology in schools and other educational institutions. Its learning games, "kahoots", are user-generated multiple-choice quizzes that can be accessed via a web browser or the Kahoot app. Kahoot! is used to make instruction more engaging remotely and in class, improve student outcomes and attendance, and collaborate with colleagues on learning content.

Creating a Kahoot! Account

You can use your Minnesota State StarID account (StarID@minnstate.edu) to sign up with Kahoot! by following the direction below.

  1. In a web browser navigate to https://kahoot.com/schools/higher-ed.
  2. Click Sign Up.
  3. At the "Choose your account type" screen, select the role that best matches your campus role (Student or Teacher).

      Students: Need to enter their birth date for Kahoot! to comply with regulations related to children. Students select a usnername at the end of this step.
      Teachers: At the "Describe your workplace" screen select Higher Education.
  4. At the "Create an account" screen, click the button Continue with Microsoft.
    Continue with Microsoft button.
  5. At the Microsoft Sign in screen enter your Minnesota State StarID account (StarID@minnstate.edu) and click Next.
  6. Enter your StarID password and click Sign in.
  7. If you are brought to a page to select a pricing plan select Get Basic for free under the paid options.
  8. You can enter your StarID as your username or select another unique username.
    Note: Your username can only be changed once per year.
  9. Optional: Once the account is created you may opt out of receiving marketing messages from Kahoot!. in the Privacy area here https://create.kahoot.it/user/settings.
