Applying for graduate assistantships

Question

I have recently been admitted into a graduate program and would like to apply for a graduate assistantship. How can I do that?

Answer

Many graduate assistantships are posted in Handshake. If you do not see assistantships listed in Handshake for your specific graduate program, please contact your graduate program director.

You may log in to Handshake using your StarID username (example: aa1234bb) and password or your SCSU assigned email address. If you are unable to log in, email the Career Center.

Pre-admitted students who do not yet have a StarID can view a list of current open graduate assistant positions.

Most graduate assistantships will require a cover letter, resume and references. These can be submitted directly through the application process in Handshake or by following the application instructions for that specific position. You do not need to send application materials to the School of Graduate Studies unless you are applying for a position within their office.

More information about assistantships can be found on the School of Graduate Studies website.
