Tuition and Fees for Graduate Assistantships

Question

Do graduate assistants have to pay tuition and fees? If so, how much?

Answer

All students enrolled in courses are charged tuition and fees. If you have a graduate assistantship, this will apply as an "Award/Payment" to your account balance. Log in to your e-Services and select "Bills and Payment" and then "Account Detail" to see your charges and payments.

Graduate assistants must be employed at least half-time (10 hours per week) to qualify.

  • Full-time graduate assistantship: eight credit graduate-level tuition waiver each semester you are employed
  • Part-time graduate assistantship: six credit graduate-level tuition waiver each semester you are employed

You cannot rollover any unused tuition waiver. Undergraduate credits are not eligible for the tuition waiver even if they are pre-requisites for graduate level courses or part of your graduate program.

Fees for all credits and all tuition beyond the six or eight credits must be paid by the student. Visit the Cost of Attendance, Tuition & Fees web page for specific tuition and fees information.
