Is 6 Credits Full-Time in Summer?

Introduction

Full-time enrollment in summer

Question

What is full-time enrollment for summer term?

Answer

Six (6) credits is always part-time, regardless of the term (fall, spring, or summer). Full-time is 12 credits for most financial aid programs; the Minnesota State Grant requires 15 credits for full-time status.

Summer sessions are considered one term so whether you take 12 credits in the first session or spread them across the summer term, the entire summer term enrollment is used to calculate your financial aid eligibility.

For enrollment requirements for financial aid, view the Policies and Guidelines and then select "Financial Aid Enrollment Requirements."
