Environment
Perceptive Content (aka ImageNow) is installed on some state computers. This affects computers with the full/licensed version of the software.
Issue
Unable to sign into Perceptive
- The login screen comes up and asks for my starID instead of my credentials for Multi-Factor Authentication.
- I don't see the screen to enter my StarID@minnstate.edu credentials.
Resolution
- Open Perceptive Content, but do not log in.
- Click on Connection Profiles and then Edit Connection Profiles.
- Highlight the current profile and click modify
- Modify the connection profile:
- Name: Perceptive Content MFA
- Server ID: dimm.campus.mnsu.edu
- Server Type: Production
- Port Number: 6000
- Login Profiles
It should look like this:

Click ok.
- This will bring you to the MinnState page. Insert in your StarID@minnstate.edu and password.
- You will need to use Multi-Factor Authentication to sign into Perceptive Content.
Issue
Cannot batch print or cannot print to batches
Resolution
These steps need to be completed by a local admin of the computer while the customer is signed into the computer.
- Sign into Perceptive Content as an administrator
- Go to Capture, Manage Capture Profiles.
- Create
- On the General Tab,
- Name: ImageNow Printer - Batch Mode
- Type: ImageNow Printer
- Mode: Batch
- On the Documentation Keys tab,
- Drawer
- Type: select System Drawer
- Value: Select the department
- Doc Type
- Type: Document Type
- Value: SCSU <Please Select>
Issue
Perceptive Content/ImageNow printer not printing in color.
Resolution
The new updated inowprinter.ini file is in the folder AdminFiles\SFT2LOD\ImageNow\Image Now Printer\updated ini
- Navigate to the Program Files (x86)\ImageNow\etc folder.
- Download the inowprinter.zip (attached to this document).
- Extract the file.
- Copy the extracted file and paste it into the ETC folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\ImageNow\etc.
- Overwrite the existing version (enter computer admin credentials)
When the user launches Perceptive Content/ImageNow, the ImageNow printer will be available to print in color.
Issue
A user may get the error “Unable to get CLSID of controller” when trying to print via the ImageNow Printer. The easiest way to test is to send a test page from the ImageNow Printer in devices and printers.
Resolution
You must register the server via an Administrator Command Prompt while the customer is signed into the computer.
- Close Perceptive Content
- Open a Command Prompt as an Administrator.
- Type cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ImageNow\bin
- Type imagenow/REGSERVER and hit enter. You will get no response – it just runs.
- When sending a print job – If you get the message below – The issue is fixed.
Issue
Not able to Print JPG Photos to ImageNow Printer
Resolution
Change the default app for Photo Viewer to Paint.
