Tech Support Zone Coverage

Introduction

This article describes how faculty and staff can locate the primary technician for their department (zone).

Zone Coverage Background: 

ITS uses a "zone coverage" technology support model, which considers campus geography as well as affinities between departments, when determining technician assignments for a department.   

Zone Coverage Expansion Taking Effect May 16th, 2022:

To support St. Cloud State University’s It’s Time strategy, increase consistency in technology support experiences across campus, and improve fiscal efficiency, the Information Technology Services department (ITS) is implementing a broader technical support zone coverage model for campus. As of May 16^th, 2022, four technicians who do not currently report to ITS will begin reporting to ITS, funding for several employees (including funding for positions for individuals currently reporting to ITS and individuals not currently reporting to ITS) will transition to the primary ITS Cost Center (206500), and slight modifications to the campus-wide support model will be implemented as the first phase of this broader technical support zone coverage model. Approximately six months after the May 16^th implementation, the campus-wide support model will be reviewed and modified as appropriate to ensure the purpose/goals of the technical support zone coverage implementation are accomplished.
