Activating your StarID

Introduction

Once activated, your StarID and password give you access to essential services like:

• Student Email
• D2L Brightspace
• HuskyNet
• And all other systems across the MinnState network that use StarID

🔑 Before You Begin:
Have your SCSU Student TechID number ready. You’ll find it on your acceptance letter.

Instructions

Step-by-Step Activation Instructions

1. Go to the StarID Self Service Portal.
2. Click “Activate StarID.”
3. Choose “I know my TechID.”
4. Enter your TechID and select St. Cloud State University from the list.
   Click Continue.

5. On the next screen, enter your Social Security Number (SSN).

6. Click Continue.
7. Create and confirm your new password.
8. Read and acknowledge the Data Stewardship Responsibilities by checking the box.
9. Click “Activate StarID.”
10. ✅ You're done!
    Be sure to remember your password—you’ll need it every time you log in with your StarID. It’s used for many campus systems, so keep it secure.

Alternate Activation Method

You can also activate your StarID using a Verification Code. This option is available on the StarID portal.

No SSN

If your Social Security Number (SSN) is not on file, you will not be able to activate your StarID using the Tech ID or Library Card Barcode methods.

In such cases, you can activate your StarID by requesting a verification code. This code will be sent to the email address associated with your account. Once received, follow the instructions in the email to complete the activation process.

Verification codes can be requested from HuskyTech

1. Go to the StarID Homepage.
2. Click Activate StarID.
3. Select "I know my email address".
4. Enter your personal email address and click Continue.
   • If you encounter issues, contact HuskyTech for assistance.
5. A verification code will be sent to your email (expires in 1 hour).
6. Check your email immediately. Copy the code carefully (avoid extra spaces).
7. Enter the verification code and your email address, then click Continue.
8. Create and confirm your new StarID password.
9. Read and acknowledge the Data Stewardship Responsibilities (check the box).
10. Click Activate StarID.
