⚠️ Important Password Tips
-
🔐 Password Requirements
-
Minimum length: 15 characters
(Previously 8 — longer passwords increase security significantly)
-
Expiration: Every 13 months
(Previously every 180 days / ~6 months)
-
Special characters: Not required anymore
(You can still use them, but they’re optional)
-
Forced resets:
You may be required to change your password immediately if:
- There are signs your account could be compromised
💡 Recommended Best Practice: Use a Passphrase
Instead of a short, complex password, use something longer and easier to remember:
- A full sentence, or
- A string of random words (4+ words)
-
✅ Example:
MyDog8MyHomework!
✔ Benefits:
- Easier to remember
- Harder for attackers to guess or crack
- Your account will be locked after 10 failed login attempts within 10 minutes
🔓 If your account gets locked:
- Wait at least 10 minutes, OR
- Contact IT:
- Submit a service request
- Call the Service Desk
