Removing Outdated / Legacy Print Queues

Introduction

On May 13, 2026, Pharos Cloud became the sole print management software solution for SCSU’s networked printers. This change was necessary as the legacy print software were not compatible with Entra ID, St. Cloud State’s primary cloud-based identity and access management service. Pharos Cloud is fully compatible with Entra ID, ensuring a more secure and modern printing environment.

Legacy software print queues are printers that appear in printer lists but are tied to services that are no longer active or will be decommissioned soon, such as temporary Entra Print queues and SCSUPrint/SCSUPrint2.

IT recommends removing outdated print queues to help avoid confusion and printing issues, as outdated queues will no longer function on your device. While you may still be able to send a print job to an outdated queue, the job will not print and will instead remain stuck in an inactive queue.

    • Secure Release: HuskyPrint Secure
    • Direct Print: Queue names generally begin with “DP_”
  • Legacy queues (remove these):
    • Queue names generally begin with a building and room number
