Introduction
Bitlocker Key Recovery - User Assigned Device - Microsoft 365 Cloud Connected (EntraID) Device
- This is for St. Cloud State-owned Windows computers enrolled as a Microsoft 365 Cloud Connected (EntraID) User Assigned device.
- It can be common for certain USB drives (if connected) to prompt for a recovery key during Windows start-up. If you experience a Bitlocker recovery prompt during start-up, please ensure that no USB drives are connected.
- If the key is unavailable for the device, work with an appropriate technician to escalate the ticket.

Note: The BitLocker Key Recovery article is for a Microsoft 365 Cloud Connected (EntraID) User Assigned Device. The key should be available to the end user whom the device is assigned.
Answer
- The end-user should log in from a separate device and Go To https://myaccount.microsoft.com (Login with StarID@minnstate.edu and PW) and Verify 2FA.

- Go to the Devices Tab and find your device based on your device’s Serial Number that is locked (bit locker). Serial numbers can be found on the back of most laptops or the side of desktops. The help desk or your technician can assist you with this.
- Intune Enrolled Windows PC’s should have an assigned name starting with SCSU-‘Serial Number’
- Select View Bitlocker Keys

- Match up the Key ID in the Bitlocker Prompt to the key listed for the device.
