Introduction
Enrollment requirement for financial aid
Question
How many credits do I need to receive financial aid?
Answer
Enrollment (i.e., credit load) requirements may vary with each individual aid program. In your student e-Services, under the “Financial Aid” link, check the “Awards by Credit Level” to see how many credits are required for your individual financial aid package.
When determining enrollment levels for financial aid, only undergraduate credits are included for undergraduate students and only graduate credits are included for graduate students. See "Financial Aid Enrollment Requirements" at Policies and Guidelines.
NOTE: Federal loans require that you be enrolled at least half-time. For undergraduate students this is 6 credits of enrollment. For graduate students this is 3 credits of enrollment. Many awards require this enrollment to be active, so once a class ends this limits your ability to receive aid for that class.
