Sending/Uploading Print Jobs and Securely Releasing at a Networked Printer

Introduction

During summer 2026, SCSU is implementing a new fleet of modern multifunction printers that will leverage secure print release, where individuals can release print jobs while at the printer using a mobile app or passcode (no mobile app required). This article provides an overview of the process to send and securely release documents.

Instructions

Send Print Job(s) to HuskyPrint Secure Queue

Option 1: Send from a University computer (e.g. workstation or lab computer)

Requires Pharos Print desktop app setup

  1. Open the document in your preferred application (e.g., Microsoft Word), or open the browser page, etc. you wish to print.
  2. Use the print function (e.g., Ctrl+P or Command+P) to pull up the print menu.
  3. Select “HuskyPrint Secure” as the printer.
  4. Choose your finishing options (e.g., copies, color, duplex) - monochrome (black and white; grayscale) is recommended to reduce costs
  5. Click Print.
  6. Your job will be sent to the HuskyPrint Secure queue and can be securely released at a networked printer

Option 2: Upload via HuskyPrint Web Portal

  1. Go to the HuskyPrint web portal and log in using your StarID@minnstate.edu.
  2. Click “Upload” in the upper-right corner.
  3. In the upload window, adjust finishing options (e.g., copies, color, duplex).
  4. Click “Submit.”
  5. Your job will be sent to the HuskyPrint queue and can be securely released at your department at your convenience (i.e. it will not print immediately.)

Option 3: Use mobile device to send print job

Requires enabling of mobile print

  1. Open the document on your mobile device.
  2. Tap “Print” using your device’s print feature.
  3. Select the HuskyPrint Secure queue.
  4. Confirm upload by checking the document in the Pharos Secure Release app or the HuskyPrint web portal.
