Enabling + Using Mobile Printing

Introduction

Students, faculty, and staff can upload print jobs directly from a mobile device and securely release them at SCSU printers. This article covers the one-time setup required to enable mobile printing, followed by instructions for submitting print jobs once setup is complete.

⚠️ Important: You must first install and sign into the Pharos Secure Release mobile app before completing these steps.

Instructions

One-Time Setup to Enable Mobile Printing

Android Devices

  1. Open the Pharos Secure Release app and confirm you are signed in.
  2. Tap Print a test page.
  3. Select the HuskyPrint Secure print queue.
  4. Sign in using:
    • Username:
      • Students: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
      • Employees: StarID@minnstate.edu
    • Password:
      • Your system-generated passcode (NOT your StarID password)
      • Sent via email from no-reply@beacon.pharos.com (or reset manually if needed)
  5. After successful sign-in, you will see a “Test successful!” message.
    • ✅ Your device is now enabled for mobile printing.

iPhone (iOS) Devices

  1. Open the Pharos Secure Release app and confirm you are signed in.
  2. Tap One-time setup instructions at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Follow the prompt to download a configuration profile.
  4. Tap Close once downloaded.
  5. Open your iPhone Settings:
    • Tap Profile Downloaded (may appear under More for your iPhone)
    • Tap View Profile → Install
    • Enter your iPhone passcode when prompted
    • Tap Install, then Done
  6. Return to the Pharos app and tap Done (if still displayed).
  7. Tap Print a test page and select HuskyPrint Secure.
  8. Sign in using:
    • Username: StarID format (same as above)
    • Password: System-generated passcode from Pharos email
  9. Or reset manually
  10. Confirm the “Test successful!” message.
    • ✅ Mobile printing is now enabled.

Send a Print Job from Your Mobile Device

Once setup is complete:

  1. Open the document you want to print on your mobile device.
  2. Select your device’s Print option.
  3. Choose the HuskyPrint Secure print queue.
  4. Submit the print job.
  5. Confirm the upload by checking:
    • The Pharos Secure Release app, or
    • The HuskyPrint web portal

Tips & Notes

  • The system-generated passcode is required for printing—not your StarID password.
  • If you don’t have the passcode email, check your inbox or request a reset.
  • Always select the HuskyPrint Secure queue to ensure your job is held for release.
  • You must still release the print job at a printer after sending it.
