Introduction

A quick note on Adobe Software Licensing

Currently, SCSU has two licensing models for using Adobe software for campus use – Shared Device Licensing and Named User Licensing.

  1. Shared Device Licensing uses a specialized version of the Adobe software that’s installed on campus owned computers that allows anyone with a free Adobe ID to use all of the Adobe software on campus-owned machines. Shared Device software can’t be used on personal devices such as student or faculty-owned laptops.
  2. Named User Licensing is a license that can be assigned to any student or faculty / staff member so they can use the full Adobe Software suite on their personal device without needing to buy an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. There are a limited number of these licenses available to students and faculty.

The College of Liberal Arts issues a limited number of Named User Licenses to students that are enrolled in certain classes that teach with the Adobe software so they may download and install the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite on their personal devices without needing to buy an Adobe Creative Cloud Subscription. Students should work with their department first, if necessary, the department will contact IT to ensure that the student is properly provisioned.
