Introduction
St. Cloud State's ITS department is piloting a new secure printing service for faculty and staff (Pharos Cloud). A limited number of departments are involved in the pilot (ITS, Career Center, Math, Stats). If you are involved in this pilot, please use the instructions below to setup the desktop application to begin sending print jobs to the printer from your computer.
Faculty and staff who are participating in the pilot and are having issues printing should contact their department's primary technician. Any other questions about this pilot should be sent to informationtechnology@stcloudstate.edu.
Instructions
1) Instructions for Uploading/Sending Print Jobs to the Printer
Secure Print Options:
Upload documents to the HuskyPrint web portal:
- Log into the web portal using YourStarID@minnstate.edu.
- Select "Upload" in the upper-right hand corner.
- Once you select "Upload", a new window should appear that will allow you to modify the finishing options including the number of copies, color preference, and duplex preferences.
- Once you have uploaded your documents and selected finishing option preferences, you can click "Submit" and your print job will be ready to be released at an on-campus printer.
- Your document will be sent to your HuskyPrint print where you can securely release it at a HuskyPrint printer (printers that have the Pharos Secure Release QR code on them); see further below for secure release instructions
Send print jobs using your work computer or preferred application:
- Use the built-in print function on your computer (e.g. Ctrl+P or Command+P) or the print feature in your preferred application that you can print from (e.g. Microsoft Word)
- For the printer, select "HuskyPrint Secure"
- Select your finishing options (e.g. color/monochrome, single or double-sided, etc.)
- Select print
- Your document will be sent to your HuskyPrint print where you can securely release it at a HuskyPrint printer (printers that have the Pharos Secure Release QR code on them); see further below for secure release instructions
Direct Print Options:
Send print jobs using your work computer or preferred application:
- Use the built-in print function on your computer (e.g. Ctrl+P or Command+P) or the print feature in your preferred application that you can print from (e.g. Microsoft Word)
- For the printer, select the name of your preferred printer
- Select your finishing options (e.g. color/monochrome, single or double-sided, etc.)
- Select print
- Your document will immediately print at the printer you selected, no secure release needed
2) Instructions for Releasing Secure Print Jobs at the Printer
Release documents at a HuskyPrint printer using mobile app:
- Go to a printer with the Pharos Secure Release QR code to release a document using the Pharos Secure Release mobile app
- At the printer, open the Pharos Secure Release app on your mobile device and ensure you are logged in
- Select with document(s) to print and then select print
- An in-app QR code scanner will appear, use that QR code scanner to scan the QR code at the printer
- Your print jobs should then release at that printer
- Once your print jobs are released/printed, they will disappear from your list of active print jobs
Release documents using passcode release (Math/Stats Only):
- Ensure you know your passcode and will have access to it while at the printer (this is different than your StarID password):
- You can refer to the most recent passcode email received from Pharos (email should be from Pharos Cloud <no-reply@beacon.pharos.com>)
- If you can't find your passcode, you can reset it to obtain a new one
- Treat your passcode like a password
- At the printer, sign-in with your StarID@minnstate.edu username (if prompted) and enter your passcode (not your password) when prompted.
- Select and print your document(s)
- Once your print jobs are released/printed, they will disappear from your list of active print jobs
