What’s the difference between a shared mailbox and a supplemental account?

Supplemental Account
- Used for computer login
- New accounts (since August 2019) log in as:
SCSU-AccountName
- Older accounts log in as:
AccountName
- Manage via Supplemental Account Maintenance (for password resets or viewing login names).

Shared Mailbox
- Used for group email communication (e.g.,
info@stcloudstate.edu
).
- Emails sent from the shared mailbox appear to come from the shared address.
- Includes a shared calendar for scheduling.
- Manage access via the Group Management Tool.
📌 Summary
Supplemental accounts are for logins; shared mailboxes are for group email and calendars.
