Configure Email/Outlook for an employee on a Windows computer

Introduction

How to set up your email on the Outlook application on a Windows computer

Instructions

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. On the Privacy screen, click Close.
  3. On the Enter your Email address screen in the email address field, remove your St.Cloud State email address and type your Sign-In ID
  • Employees/Emeriti: StarID@minnstate.edu
  • Students: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
  • Student Employees: StarID@minnstate.edu
  • If you are both an employee and a student, set up your primary email account first. You can then add the other email account later.
  1. Click Connect
  2. The Microsoft Office authentication menu will pop up on the screen. Ensure you are using your Sign-in ID, not your email address.
  3.
  4. Enter your password, then click Sign in.
  5.

  6. When Outlook completes the setup for your account, remove the check mark to "Install on my phone", then click Finish

Outlook will open and begin downloading your mail and folders. This process can take a while if you have a significant amount of email, so please be patient. If your content is not synced within 45 minutes, please contact HuskyTech. Outlook will display the message "updating this folder" when it is syncing and "up to date" at the bottom of your Outlook screen when the mailbox is downloaded.

Note

We suggest letting Outlook finish its initial download of mail before exiting. (You can minimize the window and continue using your machine while you wait.)
