Connecting to SCSU Public WiFi

Introduction

 SCSU's Public Wifi is available to the general public.

 Typically, the types of users who utilize this service are:

1.   Community patrons

2.   Prospective students and parents

3.   Students visiting from other universities

4.   People visiting campus from other organizations

How to Connect to the SCSU_Public WiFi Network

Step 1: Locate the Network Icon

  • Find the Network Connections icon on the far right side of your taskbar or on your mobile device.
  • The icon may look different depending on your current connection status (e.g., connected, disconnected, or limited).

Step 2: Connect to SCSU_Public

  • Click the Network Connections icon.
  • From the list of available WiFi networks, select SCSU_Public.
  • Click Connect.
  • You will see one of the following screens depending on your device:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • Enhanced Open Supported: A secure splash page will appear.

Enhanced Open Not Supported: You’ll see a message indicating the network is unsecured- go ahead and click "Continue anyway Via Browser."

Troubleshooting Tip:
If you're unable to connect, try forgetting the network and reconnecting.


Step 3: Open the Network Login Page

After clicking Connect, your default browser should automatically open a page that says:

"You must log in to the network..."

  • If you're using Firefox, click the "Open Network Login Page" button when prompted.https://www.stcloudstate.edu/its/_files/images/rightnow/wireless/publicwifi/mustlogin.png

Step 4: If the Splash Page Doesn’t Appear

  • If the login page doesn’t open in Google Chrome or Firefox:
  • Open Internet Explorer manually.
  • The browser should display the "Welcome to SCSU_Public" page.
  • You’ll be redirected to the Terms of Use page.

Step 5: Accept the Terms and Connect

  • Read through the Terms of Use.
  • Check the box to accept the terms.
  • Click Connect.
  • You should now be connected to the Internet!
