Updating Multi-Factor Authentication Settings for Office 365

Introduction

Instructions to add additional verification methods or make changes to your multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings.

Question

Need to add additional verification methods or make changes to your MFA settings?

Answer

You can add additional verification methods or modify your verification method settings for Office 365 MFA (e.g. if you were to change your phone number). We recommend using multiple types of verification methods (e.g. text, phone call, Microsoft Authenticator application) to ensure you are able to use MFA in case any issues are encountered on the primary method you picked.

To add or make changes to your MFA settings, open a web browser and go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info. If you are not already signed in with your account, the page will prompt you to log in.

  • Change your default verification method: click on the Change button to the right of "Default sign-in method"
  • Click +Add sign-in method to add a phone number or app
  • Select Change or Delete to modify an existing option
