Overview
The University has modernized its printing environment by replacing its aging, non-standardized printer fleet with a consolidated fleet of new multifunction printers (MFPs). By leveraging secure print release, the University has reduced the number of devices on campus, improved efficiency, and lowered operating costs. At the same time, students, faculty, and staff now have broader access to enhanced printing, scanning, and copying capabilities, including color and 11"x17" printing.
Instructions
Getting Started
- Locate the printers most convenient for your needs and review their available capabilities.
- Set up the Pharos Print desktop application on your University-issued device(s), if you haven’t already.
- Once installed, select "HuskyPrint Secure" as the printer when printing. This sends your print jobs to the secure cloud-based print queue, allowing you to release them at one of the new printers.
- Download the Pharos Secure Release mobile app for quick and convenient print release (optional).
- Reset your passcode if you do not already have one.
- Store your passcode securely, just as you would a password.
- A passcode is required for scanning and copying, and can also be used instead of the mobile app to release print jobs.
- Note: Passcodes are system-generated and cannot be customized.
- Learn how to print, scan, and make copies on the new printers.
- Remove outdated or legacy print queues from your device(s) as they will no longer work.
- Review the Knowledge Base for additional printing-related FAQs, instructions, and tips.
Important Notes
- For FY27, black-and-white printing remains $0.01 per page, while color printing is $0.10 per page.
- Standard printer supplies, including white letter-size paper (8.5"x11"), white tabloid-size paper (11"x17"), toner, and staples for stapling-capable devices, will be ordered through HuskyTech and replenished by HuskyTech or a designated department contact. Legal-size paper (8.5"x14") is also available upon request.
- Specialty materials, such as colored paper, letterhead, envelopes, etc. are the responsibility of the department or individual using them (not provided by HuskyTech.)
- Metro Sales Inc. has been selected as St. Cloud State University's new managed print services provider following a competitive RFP process. The University's managed print services contract with Marco has concluded.
- All printer support and supply requests should be directed to HuskyTech.
Recommendations
- Use digital alternatives whenever possible to help reduce printing costs.
- Plan ahead and submit print jobs early to avoid peak-use delays.
- Identify alternate printers in case your preferred device is unavailable.
