Access a Shared Mailbox on Mail Client for Mac

Question

 

How do I set up my Mac Mail Client application for Shared Mailbox access?

Answer

 

  1. Open Mail appMail menu > Add Account
  2. Other Mail Account > Continue
  3. Enter the following:
  • Name: name of the Shared Mailbox that you’re adding
  • Email Address: email address of the Shared Mailbox that you’re adding
  • Password: enter your email password 
  1. Click Sign-In

     Note: The log-in will fail and advance you to the next configuration screen.

  1. On the configuration screen, enter the following: 
  • Email Address: Shared Mailbox email
  • User Name: your email address/name of the shared mailbox. (Example: EmailAddress@stcloudstate.edu/SharedMailboxName)
  • Password: enter your email password  
  • Account Type: IMAP                                    
  • Incoming Mail Server: outlook.office365.com
  • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.office365.com
  1. Click Sign In
